Artist’s Profile
Fundacja Gra/nice (Borders Foundation) is a group of creators from the Lodz region, Poland. Its purpose is to create performances and artistic activities concerning ambiguous and urgent topics crucial for forming a social awareness. A border is a place of encounter. A space that dares to discuss and encourages a dialogue between various styles and mediums (e.g. theater of form, dance theater, acrobatics). It’s a space of influence, exchanging thoughts, opinions, experiences and emotions. A border is what we define as the essence of contemporary theatre  The group was created during the realisation of the performance “Nameless/Unknown”, produced as a part of Lukasz Batko’s “Mloda Polska (Young Poland) 2020” scholarship, which appeared at the most important puppet festivals in Poland, winning numerous awards. The Foundation realized spectacle for kids “The Sea of ∞ Possibilities”. This performance qualified for one of the most popular Polish ministerial programs, presenting performances in towns with limited access to culture. It was presented at the 8th International Puppet Festival of Kalamata 2024 and 21st Ishara International Puppet Festival in New Delhi. It is also presented in non-theatrical spaces such as common rooms, kindergartens or apartments.
